And the winner is….

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

So apparently Blu-ray officially wins the Hi-Def format wars (…so glad I bought a PS3). Toshiba announced yesterday that it will discontinue their HD DVD business. This is a HUGE deal as Toshiba was a major partner of companies like Microsoft and Paramount Pictures in the format war on the HD DVD side. This comes after companies like Warner Bros., Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Netflix announced that they would support Blu-ray disc exclusively, ending their previous support of both formats. Here’s a recent time line of events… (more…)

Centro-Fly

Monday, December 10th, 2007

So I bought the wife a new phone. Her old phone has been through everything and the poor guy finally checked out. Survived being lost (many times), mishandled and baby drool. It served us well. Our past (and first) wedding anniversary, I bought her a Palm Z22. I was trying to get her away from her huge day planner she carried around … and into 2007.

Monday, March 13th, 2006

steve jobs If you’ve bought electronics in the last few years, you know that the mob isn’t the only organization offering “protection services” these days.

Microsoft Origami Revealed

Friday, March 10th, 2006

origamiFor a few years I’ve been distantly desirious desirous of the OQO mini PC. Have a look here. Pretty nifty right? Ya know what’s NOT nifty? The 2000+ dollar price tag! Bleh.

So there’s been some hype over Microsoft’s Origami, a small hybrid palmtop/laptop PC that will compete with the OQO. Take a gander at the Origami in all it’s origaminess.

Handhelds…Selfish Gaming?

Thursday, March 2nd, 2006

pspSo I had this thought the other night. I was excited at the prospect of FINALLY getting on the modern day handheld bandwagon. My last handheld was the ORIGINAL gameboy. Favorite game? Super Mario Land. Respek! (Ali G)

But with the announcing of DS Lite, and Tetris DS, Mario Kart DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, and a host of other interesting titles, and a huge tax return (W W), I’m all like “Yo I’m TOTALLY coppin’ a handheld like whoa.” But then I had the thought…

PS3 Delayed…what are we to do??

Thursday, March 2nd, 2006

ps3One thing you will notice about the GREAT majority of PS2 fans is their unwavering love for the brand. Ever have that friend in high school that wouldn’t buy anything other than Nike sneakers? Or wouldn’t even THINK of touching a Sega Master System over Nintendo?

These kinds of players have a horrible prospect before them…a huge delay in the release of PS3.

Taser: making the world more like splinter cell

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

samvsgordonThe Taser company makes hi-tech ways to stop bad guys without killing them. Their latest invention, the “Extended Range Electro-Muscular Projectile”, paralyzes no-goodnicks without the need of a wire from the device to the projectile. This allows for much greater range in a non-lethal weapon.

Sound Familiar? Yup, its the sticky shocker from Splinter Cell. So now law enforcement can non-lethally squat perps–Sam Fisher Style!

Engadget has the skinny on Taser’s latest non-lethal weap.

Atech’s Ipod Dock for the John

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

ipod bathroomAs a person who has renamed his PSP, the BRB (Bath Room Buddy) — I can not in good conscience condemn anyone who uses their gadgets while sitting on the John.
