Squatworthy: 25 to Life

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

25toLifeNo, I’ve never played this game, as a matter of fact I wouldn’t be caught DEAD even renting it–But just incase any of you out there were thinking about it, perhaps reading these reviews will save you the suffering…

Metareview: 25 to Life

It shouldn’t suprise anyone that this game bites. It’s just another GTA clone. This is usually what happens when a bunch of developers race to bastardize another company’s concept. Garbage.

It’s XBox Cheapo Bin Time!

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

banana xboxAs you may or may not have noticed, the bargain bins at your local EB Games / Gamestop have been filled with great deals lately. Most likely due to the Xbox 360/Next-Gen gaming hype, both new & used Xbox titles are cheaper than ever–and many are Xbox Live Enabled.

Here are a few of my picks from the Xbox cheapo bin.

Splinter Cell Essentials sneaking to the PSP

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

Splinter Cell EssentialsSiphon Filter, Schmifon Filter. Splinter Cell Essentials is coming to the PSP and once it does, you’re not going to care who Gabriel Logan is.

So far this game is looking great. It will be both a sequel and a prequel, with some missions occuring long before the first game and some that take place where Splinter Cell: Double Agent leaves off.

Ubisoft seems to really want to revitalize Splinter Cell’s storyline, which has never really been that gripping. It’s good to see that they’re tying in the PSP title into the overall plot, since most PSP games tend to ditch the storyline.

The game, which runs on a modded version of the PS2’s Pandora Tomorrow engine, looks fantastic. Just look at the gameplay footage, and try to convince yourself it isn’t from a PS2.

Gamespot has lots of info on the title
, which is due out Q1 2006.

Siphon Filter: Dark Mirror Announced for PSP

Wednesday, December 21st, 2005

Siphon Filter Dark MirrorSiphon Filter: Dark Mirror was announced for the PSP today. You should definitely add this one to your pre-order list, along with SF Alpha 3 MAX.

The original Siphon Filter was one of the best games ever made for PS1. (As a matter of fact, I’ve been playing through it lately – Still Fun!) Never having bought a PS2, I’ve lost track of the series’ progress since then. I look forward to getting reacquainted when Siphon Filter: Dark Mirror comes out sometime in 2006.

For those of you unfamiliar with Siphon Filter, It’s a 3rd person Action/Stealth/Puzzle/Shooter. They claim it will have 8 player multiplayer online, but don’t hold your breath.(Remember how Coded Arms cut their online play at the last second.) Hopefully Siphon Filter won’t disappoint.

Street Fighter 3 “Squatalities”

Wednesday, December 21st, 2005

akuma-squatality“Pretty Cool, Huh! It’s my Squatality”

Fighting game finishing moves ARE pretty cool. Back in 1992, Mortal Kombat gave birth to the finishing move. Since then, however, the franchise has long gone stagnant in it’s gameplay while simultaneously becoming more ultra-violent. Other 2D fighters like Street Fighter and King of Fighters have continued to grow but still lack the ultimate pwnage of the finishing move.

Street Fighter 3 – 3rd Strike, with cool features like taunts that hit & leaving the winning player in your control for a few seconds after the final blow, allows for some interesting “Custom” finishing moves that I call “Squatalities”.

Being the creative gamers we are, Wiggy and I have developed a number of these Squatalities that exploit these features and leave your oppenent feeling like they got stood up on Prom Night…

Here they are: Our Top 10 Street Fighter 3 “Squatalities”

Meet Mrs. Chief

Female Spartan LindaSpammy: “There’s no way I’ll ever buy DOA4″
Team Ninja: “But there’s a Halo Level in it.”
Spammy: “Meh, so what”
Team Ninja: “And… A Female Spartan”
Spammy: “Can’t Resist… Crapppy Game. Noooooooo”
Team Ninja: “Wut Wuuuuuuuut!”

Okay, so we all know DOA4 will probably be fun for about 10 minutes. Still, the glitzy, jiggly fighter has always been a champion of the xbox franchise; The 360 is no different.

DOA4 has a female spartan as a playable character. This blatant cross-promotion will no doubt score “Master Gates” (-Tronsta) some extra money to save up for his next bad haircut.

What’s Next for 360?

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

I’m a big fan of Gamespy.com (shameless plug dat). I’ve been reading them for years and their reviews, for me, are 99% on the money. Anywho, incase you didn’t get that, that’s www.gamespy.com , muaha.

But yeah, they have some great write-ups and every so often I like to point some folks over to it, and this week they have some nifty little paragraphs on upcoming 360 games. Check it out here.

And what kind of Tronsta post would this be if I didn’t offer my own two cents on these upcoming games, ZOT!

What kind of squatter are you?

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

halosquatsquat

Face it, there are two kinds of people in this world…

Those who squat and those who get squatted.

Of course, who in this world DOESN’T get squatted? I mean really, you’d have to be the greatest Halo player in the Universe, and you’d STILL get cheesed out by that level 21’s nOOb combo. But ah, the squat. Some of us live for it. Some of us see a dead deer lying on the side of the road and we must fight with all that is holy and humane not to pull over and squat that thing. PWND LOLZ!!!!

But seriously, what kind of squatter are you? Here’s a short list of squats to get us started:
