Getting Lost - Episode 2.22 “Three Minutes”

Posted May 17, 2006 at 11:45 pm by Spamalot

threeMinutesI really think that ABC should create a Michael doll, kind of like a “Tickle me Elmo”. It could be a “Question Me Michael”.

Ask “Question Me Michael” anything and he’ll answer the same way.

“I Want My Son!”

So this week’s episode was the one we’ve been waiting for since Michael pwned the dynamic duo (Libby and Ana Lucia) 3 weeks ago.

And… the episode’s flashbacks were satisfying, yet predictable, like the Spicy Chicken combo you order every friday at Wendy’s.

We see Michael heading out on his mission and getting nabbed rather quickly by “Mr. Friendly”, Alex, and the rest of the ragamuffin crew.

It was interesting to see what was happening to Michael while the events all the way back in episode 2.11 “The Hunting Party” were occuring. We see “Mr. Friendly” going out to meet Jack, Sawyer and Locke. Alex asks Michael how Claire and the baby are doing. Michael is gagged, so he doesn’t respond, but if he said anything you can bet it would be…

Alright, enough of that.

Michael is brought to the Other’s “camp” (Which is interesting since we know that their whole ragamuffin look is a facade and the camp is a front). While there Michael meets the gracefully evil “Mrs. Clue”, who lets Michael and Walt have a little three minute supervised reunion. The Father and Son QT is cut short when Walt tries to tell Michael that they make him take tests all day and that the Others aren’t who they seem to be. It’s clear that Michael doesn’t get the message, but he agrees to set “Henry Gale” free and bring Hurley, Jack, Kate, and Sawyer back to the camp. He demands a boat in addition to his Son’s release.

Bring the four back for what? Who knows… But Michael has a bunch of trouble getting them all to come in the wake of Libby and Ana’s funeral arrangements. He also manages to arouse Sayid’s suspicion along the way when he opposes “the Torturer’s” involvement.

Libby and Ana’s Funeral is interrupted by a boat floating to shore, which leads to Sun with the ridiculous look on her face in the above picture, LOL!

It’s notable that Michael was never told to kill Ana Lucia, but merely to free the prisoner and bring the four people on the list back. So it wasn’t a hit like I thought it was…

Other points of interest:

  1. Sawyer tells Jack that he slept with Ana, and tells Jack that “He’s the closest thing he’s got to a friend”
  2. Vincent (Walt’s Dog) brings Charlie some He-rone from Sawyer’s stash, but Charlie beats the temptation and pitches them into the ocean. Locke sees this.
  3. Locke’s leg is apparently better already, since he cuts his brace off and walks away. Another island miracle?

Season Finale next week! Check back here next thursday for the big wrap-up and subsequent blabbing!

Nice post. Here’s my potential problem with the show now, though, after last night’s episode…

They have really hyped up the Others to be this band of straight up EVIL people. Making no attempt to ease the worries of the Oceanic survivors, they KNOW the survivors are tramatized from their experiences yet they make no effort to work WITH them, but rather against them. They held Michael for a week and didn’t even let him see his son until the end. They’re intentially playing a scare tactic game to get whatever it is that they want.

So my potential problem comes as this…will the writers explain what the Others are all about? And when and if they do, will that explaination be big enough to fill the hype that was created since the start of the show? Namely that the Others are a) extremely well prepared and supported, b) are extremely able, both physically and mentally, c) they have near god-like surveillance going on on the Oceanic survivors, and d) don’t give a flying poo about the survivors and their situation.

I’m worried that they are just going to be doctors out to record data on their experiments. That won’t cut it for me. I need something bigger, like they work for an insane scientist who escaped the general public and bought his own island and is conducting evil experiments with plans to take over the world.

But, I’m putting my faith in the writers that they are not going to hype up characters and then give them a whack explaination. Next week, 2 hour special dat.

Dharma is secretly owned and run Umbrella Corp.

That’s my theory and I’m stickin to it!

What’s wrong with the Others being straight up evil. The world is filled with Evil people without an ounce of good in them. Dharma is just researching Arms for money’s sake. They’re like profiteers.

The way I see it, the highest up in their organization are probably the most evil, while many of the rest are brainwashed or have no choice but to comply (i.e. Alex).

Mrs. Clue was definitely a higher up.

I think in the end Dharma is going to be taken out by some government that they messed with. Like at the end of season 5, after most of the Oceanic survivors have been killed, Jack is going to get some evidence to somebody who’s going to be real mad.

The bigger story is about stopping this Nazi-like organization. It goes beyond the survivors, michael, walt, any of that. They can all die in the struggle, as a matter of fact.

Anyway, next week is definitely going to have some sort of big twist, and we’ll have to wait what seems like forever to find out what happens (Remember the hatch ending season 1?)

Yet we look forward to this? LOL. We’re Masochists

No no, I don’t have a problem with the Others being evil, but I WILL have a problem if they don’t have a good enough reason WHY they are being evil.

Just saw the ep….gotta make this quick cause i’m tired. I’ll write more tomorrow.

First, i wanted Patrick Swayze to come out and tell DJ Miss Clue, “No one puts Walt in THE ROOM!” Second, I wanted Michael to congratulate Walt for going through puberty in less than a month. “Dad! I love you! *mouth continues to stay open* “Walt!……Walt? What happened to your hairstyle, bass in your voice and height?!”

This ep went against a bunch of things i believed. I thought Michael was making up some elaborate story about the condition of the Others. I was wrong. Also, I thought killing Ana Lucia was part of the plan. Didn’t hear anything about having to ice the lesbo boricua. But if I was Michael, why wouldn’t you just go back and tell everyone the truth about whats going on? Reverse the obvious trap the Others are trying to set. I hope Michael has a change of heart in the finale and gives everyone a heads up, which will then lead to an all out battle between factions.

The little boat? I thought it was just a reminder the Others were sending to Michael so he wouldn’t forget what was at stake. But then the clips from the upcoming ep suggest differently.

    *WARNING: SPOILERS*

Desmond is slated to be in the finale. He will provide a bunch of inside info on Dharma, The Hatches and The Others. This is according to one of the recent articles of Entertainment Weekly.

    *END SPOILERS*

I agree with Tronsta….the writers better have something up their sleeves to pull a good portion of this enigma together. I don’t expect everything to be explained but i would like close to all of the season one questions along with with some of the season two questions to be answered. Just hoping the show keeps the momentum its been gaining these last few eps.

Others being evil? That’s cool. But i’d also like a good reason for their evil behavior.

Dharma being in cohoots with Umbrella? Genius. Alvar Hanso is really Albert Wesker. Done. Roll credits.

  6. Spamalot Says:

DJ Miss Clue, LOL. Wiggy’s so Ka-ray-zee.

I would like Michael to have a change of heart like your saying, but he’s such an idiot. I mean, you make a deal with the devil and expect them to comply? How do we even know they won’t just kill him?

What he should’ve done was, first of all:

Don’t go on a sneaking mission in broad daylight! Idiot! Of course he got caught.

Also, Im sick of reading people on TV Squad saying they would’ve done the same thing Michael did. So it’s okay to Kill *other people’s kids* to save your own? I have no sympathy for michael.

I really feel bad for Walt because even if he goes back with Dad, his Dad’s a murderer. Walt’s life is pwned.

I have no idea what the boat is? Desmond’s?

*99% of evil people are motivated by money or power, that’s reason enough for me.*

And yeah, if Hanso is really Wesker, you better hope that’s T-Virus vaccine in them tubes or things are gonna get really ugly on the island. (It wouldn’t be the first time Michelle Rodriguez has been a Zombie. LOL)

Oh, and good info on next week Wiggy, you’ve got me drooling for the finale…

  7. tronsta Says:

(stares blankly at Patrick Swayze reference) Abuah?

BTW I forget to write that I was peeing my pants at the Michael doll idea lol. Michael Doll, what should I wear today? “I WANT MY SON!!!” Michael Doll, does Bobbie REALLY like me?? “I WANT MY SON!!!” ROFLMBOFDIC!!!

Yeah man Michael will always be a moidah-rah. He could have figured something else out. Though more likely it would have been better to just pull the 4 people aside he had to bring, tell them what was up, and see what happend. Going to war is going to get the Oceanic survivors pwnd.
