What are you playing? 3/28/06

I’ve done this on near every site I’ve ever posted regularly on. Leeched the idea from Gamespy, they do it every few weeks. Everyone posts about what games they are currently playing and how they like them. So let’s start, shall weh?
I used to do just the top three you’re playing, but we are hardcizzle, so no limit on the amount of games you want to post about. Just make sure you are playing them NOW and not 5 months ago.
Ok here are the games I’m playing:
1) Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Right off the bat, it took me about 6 hours over the course of two days to finally decide what character I wanted to play. The game is THAT immense just from the beginning. 21 classes, including tons of awesome cross classes like Nightblade(Mage that has assasin skills), Knight(Fighter with healing skills), and Crusader (Fighter with some offensive mage skills). I ended up settled on the Battlemage, a mage that can wear heavy armor and use axes. Teh hawt. You can even create your own class from a list of skills. I’m a huge fan of the RPG system, and so far I’m already overwhelmed with how much there is to do. The world is huge, the quests and sidequests are massive, and there’s a deep, complex storyline. For Hardcore RPG fans only. By the time I’ve beaten this game once (you can go through it a dozen times and get a totally different experience each time) I should be ready for Oblivion.
2) Need For Speed: Most Wanted
While I’m, right away, disappointed with the GFX and the fact that I can’t use my own custom music tracks, I have to say the game is very enjoyable. The acting is pretty laughable, mainly since they use FMV still, whack, but the gameplay is cool and the free roam City is pretty nifty.
3) Burnout Revenge
The different in GFX going from NFS:MW to Burnout Revenge is like going from Xbox 180 to Xbox 360. So smooth and seamless. I finally got all the gold medals and I only have about 6 more cars to unlock, though I’m a little disenchanted since I gotta get a ton of signature takedowns to complete the game, even though I’m 95% complete with the game. Ah well. Still awesomely hot. Played last night with Spammy and some random racers. Very very fun.
4) Project Gotham Racing 2
I still get a few races online every other week or so. Such a perfect online game.
5) Mech Assault 2
I dunno why I sold this in the first place. The online is still a little eh, but it’s still an awesome game.
So what are YOU playing?

1) Daxter (PSP)–Let me just start by saying that this game is the best PSP game out right now. It’s packed with cool gadgets, upgrades, vehicles, and minigames that set it apart from the typical platformer. The story is interesting; The one-liners are hillarious; and the graphics look like an XBox title.
You know how good it feels to spray a bug with raid and then squash it with a swatter? Well imagine how good it would feel if the raid was a giant bug spray gun with boost, flamethrower, and blaster attachments. Alright, now imagine that the flyswatter is electricly charged and you can fight multiple bugs with it, complete with karate flips and combos–Ok, now imagine the bug is 6 feet tall and shoots fire and electricity. That’s what Daxter is all about.
2) Pursuit Force (PSP) — This movie-style action game puts games like Max Payne and Dead to Rights to shame. Crash the baddies, jump onto the hood of their car while it’s doing 150mph and try to keep your balance and jack their ride. Tons of vehicles, colorful gangs to battle-all with their own unique style… on a handheld. Teh 0wnage.
3) Burnout Revenge (XBox) –What can I say?
4) Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (XBox) –Super fun. Not a God of War ripoff like Two Thrones.
5) MLB 2K5 (XBox) — Baseball games are a lost joy to me. I haven’t played them for a long time since my interest in the sport has wained and most people I know play stuff like madden.
I recently picked this one up along with NHL 2K5 for about 5 bucks a piece. While not a whole lot has changed since I last played baseball video games, the addition of online is really cool.
That’s what I’m playing… oh and SF3 and Hey Low of course.

I’m playing ALLLL leeched games. Snake Eater and Guitar Hero. I have to get my xbox fixed, so I can Hey Low it up a little. Also Splinter and Merc it up. And Graw it up. All those.

Besides the standard SF Collection and H2, here are some of my current games.
1) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion- X-box 360
Awesome. Most of you guys have seen it, so there’s no need to elaborate. I will just mention that it’s an immersive experience and I’m loving every step I take. No power gaming through this one. Gotta take your time and ease into it….like a gentleman.
2) Tetris DS- Nintendo DS
Soooo awesome! New and addictive game modes along with classic style. Combine a flawless multiplayer mode with fluid game sharing and you have a perfect reason to buy a DS.
3) Guitar Hero- Playstation 2
But Marco, doesn’t Sqlid have your copy of GH and PS2? Yes. But you forget I used to work for a game store, so I can go in and play any game I want. MWAHAHAHA! I usually stop by after work and play a few songs followed by some rounds of Tetris DS.
4) Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4- Gamecube
Unique fighting game that is scheduled to hit the states in a few years. Import dat! An awesome game that compliments an awesome series. Featuring an extensive selection of characters each with their own unique and dazzling supermoves, Naruto 4 is definitely the best in the series.
So there you have it. Not only do I play…..but I PWN!!!

just overhauled my mini game collection, so here’s what i’m playing at the moment…
1) Gran Turismo 4 - yep, still going. i usually play a GT game right up to the release of the next version (which in this case will be Vision GT on PS3). ulitmate driving sim. not racing sim….driving sim. big difference.
2) Tiger Woods 06 - just got it. i’ve pretty much played all of the Tiger Woods games (even back when it was called PGA Tour) and i have never been disappointed. i know that golf is utterly boring on TV, but it’s much better when you are playing. the career mode is awesome and it goes like 30 years! (i’ve only ever done 2+) they added some new features to the game play, making it more deep. now you can choose where you make contact with the ball (middle, top, bottom, sides) and this affects the trajectory of the ball. think billiards. this makes for much more control and realism in an already highly realisitc game. they’ve also added a “skills challenge” type mode where you have to hit the ball through rings and at targets to get points. very fun! my only beef with the game is not enough real life players. i think they have like 12 real current players and about 4 legends. not really any female players like Annaka Sorenstam or Michelle Wie. too many fantasy players made up for the game challenges. it doesn’t matter much for being the characters, cuz the focus of the game is your created character (the Game Face mode is the best create-a-character i’ve seen ever), but i want to play against more real life pros. the graphics are consistantly great and the music is good this year. there is online play and i haven’t tried it with this years version. gotta get my character up first before i do that.
3) NBA 2K6 - sigh…let me start by saying that i am a long time supporter of EA Sports and NBA Live (had every one since Lakers vs Celtics and the Live series). DaedalX (or Methane or whatever he’s going by now) tried to convince me that 2K6 was better after getting pwned in Live for years now. so it’s about that time of year when i trade in and get some new games (tho i usually wait for the end of the NBA season). i usually go for MVP Baseball right about now, but i went with 2K6 instead. so far, me no likey. doesn’t have the same feel to me. it’s too slow. players look plastic and robotic. and the dunks look terrible! just horrible. on the positive side, everything having nothing to do with gameplay is great with the game. the presentation is very good. Live has been slacking on the game presentation for a minute now. and the VIP feature of 2K6 is pretty awesome. that game saves every piece of stat for you down to which individual players you score the most with. and the best part is that it keeps track of your “tendencies” playing the game. do you like to shoot inside or outside? do you run and gun or hold the ball? it records all of that so that your friends can play against you (well, your virtual you) when you’re not even there. you can even upload your VIP persona online and people can download you and play against your “tendencies”. that’s pretty freakin awesome idea. too bad the game kinda sucks. i’ll give it some more time tho. i haven’t tried playing online yet.
all in all, i kind of wish i didn’t trade in Star Wars Battlefronts II. i beat the “Rise of the Empire” section of the game. the space battles were really hard to me and i spent the most of my time on that. the ground battles aren’t as hard, but get progressively tougher. being a Star Wars nut, i love how it all ties into the movies. best game since the Episode III game. that’s a great game and i’m sure i’ll get that back.
when i moved after i got married, i let my sister keep Jeopardy, Marvel Nemesis and X-Men Legends II.
Jeopardy is cool (again, i pwn at that), but only really me and my sister played that. good for parties and junk.
Marvel Nemesis sucks. storyline sucks. “new” characters suck (i hope they not thinking of making comics out of them). fighting in the game sucks. it’s basically one button attacking the whole time (with a modifier). and even tho there’s a decent number of characters, there’s only like 4 character “types”. for instance, Spiderman, Daredevil, Venom and one of the Nemesis characters all basically use the same web-swing fighting style. all the flying characters are the same, etc. the only cool thing is being able to pick things up and throw or beat or you apponent with them. for instance stronger characters can pick up cars and chuck them across the level at the other player. other than that, game sucks. my sister on the other hand loves it.
X-Men Legends II. i love this game! and i HATE RPG’s. they bore me to …. zzzzzzzzzzzz. i know this is not a “true” RPG, but it’s as close as i’ll ever get. very fun game. and using the powers is very cool. also very cool to mix and match the characters for the certain needs of a level. i’ll probably be getting this back as well. i only let my sister keep it cuz she likes Marvel stuff so i thought she might like it. if i find she’s not playing it, i’m gonna go get it back from her.
basically i’m going to get be playing SWBF II and XMLII again very soon.
March 30th, 2006 at 12:41 pm
XMLII is a lot of fun. Fun online too. We used to play it a lot when it first came out. It’s an Action RPG, yeah, not really a true one. I’m trying to imagine Josiah playing Morrowind or Oblivion lol.
I always wanted to try Nemesis but I heard it was awful. And yeah, they already have made comics with those new guys. Actually the comics were out before the game. Johnny Ohm has to be the worst lol.
Battlefront II was a ton of fun but online was weird. I couldn’t create a game that would allow more than 4 players, never did find out what I was doing wrong. I sold it, but it was a lot of fun. Oh, and space battles are mad easy, you just gotta know what to do:
1) Get a bomber and take out the smaller capital ships ASAP.
2) Go to their main capital ship and take out all the main support systems. Engine, Shields, Senors, etc. Once those are all done, you can bomb the mess out of the ship.
March 30th, 2006 at 1:31 pm
yeah my bombing runs in SWBFII need work. and i lost a few guys in the begining trying to land on the enemy ships. lol. yeah the capital ships wore me out till i started realize it. i’ve never really been much good at any flying games. so it took me a while to catch onto that. and i never really got into the Galatic Conquest part of the game. i need to get back into that.
yeah i don’t mess with RPG’s. i need action NOW! my game list usually includes….
any current version of Madden, NBA Live, Tiger Woods, MVP Baseball.
Gran Turismo keeps me busy for a few years till the new one comes out. tho i did finish NFSU and NFSU2. i haven’t gotten into Most Wanted yet.
Metal Gear.
Tekken and/or Soul Caliber.
pretty much any Star Wars game, tho i never got into KOTOR series. i know, old news.
and now after playing the first 2, if they keep making XML, i will check that out too.
of course there’s always the random game here and there.
March 30th, 2006 at 1:33 pm
XML2 is great. I have it for PSP but took a break due to the fact that I keep getting owned repeatedly in the same spots.
Nemesis is supposedly teh Grabbage. Why add characters to a marvel super heroes game? Aren’t there enough of them already?
March 30th, 2006 at 1:35 pm
I thought teh grabbage was a good thing? Nemesis is teh crapxx0rs
