Squatworthy: Sony PSP game developers

Friday, February 10th, 2006

burnout legendsThis Squatworthy is going out to all you lazy PSP game developers who don’t feel like online play is important to handheld gaming. Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max was just released and guess what… NO ONLINE!

Something seriously needs to be done about this. At the PSP’s launch, we got Twisted Metal: Head On and with it, one of the sweetest online gaming experiences ever.

Since then, we’ve been dissapointed repeatedly with title after title lacking online play! Burnout Legends and Coded Arms were huge letdowns as gamers were excited about playing them online since the days they were announced. Since they were so graphically demanding, however, we could understand online not being feasible.

But Street Fighter?

Come on! If X-Men Legends 2 can support online, then why not Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max?

PSP Developers…We want online!

Squatworthy: 25 to Life

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

25toLifeNo, I’ve never played this game, as a matter of fact I wouldn’t be caught DEAD even renting it–But just incase any of you out there were thinking about it, perhaps reading these reviews will save you the suffering…

Metareview: 25 to Life

It shouldn’t suprise anyone that this game bites. It’s just another GTA clone. This is usually what happens when a bunch of developers race to bastardize another company’s concept. Garbage.

Dude, Enough with the Chuck Norris Jokes Already, You’re Killin’ Me!

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

chuck norris workoutJoystiq has been on a roll with the Chuck Norris jokes lately. First they insert Reggie Fils-Aime’s name in place of Chuck Norris’ on that hilarious list of “Chuck Norris Facts”, and now they post a picture of “Master Chief Unmasked” with Norris’ head photoshopped onto MC’s Body.

I always thought Master Chief vs. Chuck Norris would be an entertaining match… Too bad that they’re the same person!

P.S. – Isn’t this image great. I love Google Image Search!

Squatworthy / Getting Lost: Ethan 0wn3d

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

ethan romWell–no new LOST this week so I was forced to get out my Season 1 DVD set. The pick for the night was Episode 1.15: “Homecoming”, otherwise known as “The one where Ethan gets squatted”.

There’s a reason why this post is as much a “Squatworthy” post as it is a “Getting Lost” one.–The way Ethan got 0wned, I’m surprised that Charlie didn’t get a little Squat-Squat-Melee in there.

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

banana xboxAs you may or may not have noticed, the bargain bins at your local EB Games / Gamestop have been filled with great deals lately. Most likely due to the Xbox 360/Next-Gen gaming hype, both new & used Xbox titles are cheaper than ever–and many are Xbox Live Enabled.

Here are a few of my picks from the Xbox cheapo bin.

Street Fighter 2 + XBL Arcade = “I Got Next”

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

QuarterOkay, this news is way old but It’s so cool that it deserves a post. Microsoft seems to be getting it right with XBox Live for the 360. They’ve released some excellent XBL Arcade titles like Geometry Wars that are as popular as their Premium 360 games. They’ve also revolutionized content delivery with downloadable movie previews and game demos.

Microsoft’s latest XBL innovation comes in the form of Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting for XBL Arcade. More than just some run-of-the-mill port, Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting is a fully realized online version of the Arcade experience.

What do we mean by “Arcade Experience”? Well, it has a “Quarter Mode” wherein players can place a virtual quarter on the game screen to reserve their match against the winner. How stinking cool is that! This is actually a feature that Team Squat have been talking about now for a good year, and it’s great to see that Microsoft implemented it.

Other great features include a Spectator Mode, fully mappable button layout, voice support, and leaderboards. Too bad it’s only SF2 so we won’t be able to Parry Dat. Oh well, I guess you can’t have it all…
