Getting Lost - Episode 2.12 “Fire plus Water”
Posted January 26, 2006 at 12:24 pm by Spamalot
On this week’s episode of “I’ve just LOST another hour of my life”, Charlie’s losing his mind and having weird dreams about Claire’s baby being in danger. But is he taking those drugs? Is he having withdrawals from not taking them? His dreams seemed Island-induced; Are they? Who Knows!
Charlie’s dreams lead to him causing a fire as a diversion so he can grab the baby and baptize him. For this, Locke gives him an unwarranted, yet squatworthy, beatdown on the beach.
Instead of Locke telling Claire about the heroin, he secretly keeps it. What’s he doing? Is he keeping it for a pain reliever/anesthetic? Is he planning to hold this over Charlie’s head later? We should just stamp “Others Collaborator” on this dude’s forehead and call it a day.
In other happenings, Hurley continues running his “game” on Libby–If you consider sweating allot and staring, with mouth agape, to be “game”.
Personally, I think everyone turning their backs on Charlie is just a setup for him to be vindicated in future episodes. I think his dreams are being caused by the island, and Claire’s baby is going to be taken by the Others. Once that happens, Mr. Eko & Charlie should get some payback from Locke…
THIS SUMMER, Mr. Eko & Charlie are…
Black Thunder / White Lightning
Charlie - “Mine fall harder!”
Eko - “Mine are deader, hahahaha”
Extra points to the commenter who can tell me what movie that’s from…
In all seriousness, this episode was mostly subtext, with a cursory, yet interesting, backstory about Charlie’s family. Almost no reference was made to Michael’s disappearance, the Others, or last week’s events. We’ll have to wait until Feb. 8th. for some answers.

yeah, subtext out the wazoo. i was a distracted dirk watching this episode, so i didn’t make all the connections i think i could have made. still locke, in his hunger to understand the island, is turning out to be bad news. he’s thinking of taking the baby and trading him to the others for secrets about the island! he’s turning evil or . . . confused and shady. this is all conjecture, of course i think echo will become a more benevolent and spiritual advisor. and him marking the trees furthers the clues about an inter-clan sperating process, and also the mysterious “good/bad” list that the OTHERS have. anyway, as for charlie–he hasn’t used the china white. he’s still confused and trying to hold together the little family he’s grown to love and depend on for acceptance, so much so that he went to some pretty extreme and seemingly insane lengths to protect them. Charlie, inside, being a spiritual type dude with serious issues, he’ll feel really strongly about something, but won’t act on in it rationally. as he grows he’ll know to act right, so he don’t get smack’d right by Claire AND Locke. but, man, what a stern beat down he got on the beach. i was totally surprised. ok, so we’ve known for a long while that Claire’s baby, Aaron, is a special baby and is in danger. NOW, some people realize it and are on gaurd, Claire seems to be taking it more seriously by getting Aaron baptized by an african gangster, lol. but that’s good. STILL the others are gonna try to take him again. the ‘ETHAN’ others not the ‘ZEKE AKA the SEA-BILLY’ others, if there actually is such a division. i think we’ll learn more about the baby and the OTHERS real soon. when lost comes back on [Feb 8] it’ll be in a time called SWEEPS! a time when all the shows whip out their best episodes, so lets look forward to some good fun, fish, and fruit flavored moonshine with the OTHERS and our favorite Lostaways.
quicknote: the Hurley and Libby stuff was very cool but more than a little bit weird. i think Libby, being a psychiatrist and Hurley being an ex-mental patient–there is some history there. MAYBE Libby isn’t a psychiatrist at all [she sure doesn't act like one] but a mental patient herself. hmmm.
quicknote: a really funny line from Saywer to Hurley regarding Libby doing laundrey, “i know ya want to put a load in, yourself.” or something like that. i was rolling. also when Saywer called Hurley “Jabba.” mannn.
quicknote: the best line of the episode goes to increasingly sympathetic yet annoying Anna-Lucia, “are you hittin’ that?” Jack was like, “Whattttttt.”

I predict that during sweeps Claire will continue to have a love interest with every male on the island.
Her next target? Hurley.

Claire wants another Bebeh, one that resembles Jabba the hut so she can do her hair like Leia
BTW, just rocked the first 4 episodes of season 1, WW
