Splinter Cell Essentials sneaking to the PSP

Siphon Filter, Schmifon Filter. Splinter Cell Essentials is coming to the PSP and once it does, you’re not going to care who Gabriel Logan is.
So far this game is looking great. It will be both a sequel and a prequel, with some missions occuring long before the first game and some that take place where Splinter Cell: Double Agent leaves off.
Ubisoft seems to really want to revitalize Splinter Cell’s storyline, which has never really been that gripping. It’s good to see that they’re tying in the PSP title into the overall plot, since most PSP games tend to ditch the storyline.
The game, which runs on a modded version of the PS2’s Pandora Tomorrow engine, looks fantastic. Just look at the gameplay footage, and try to convince yourself it isn’t from a PS2.
Gamespot has lots of info on the title, which is due out Q1 2006.

well, wowie. that does look delicious. for a handheld. i’m diggin’ Choas Theory a lot. takin’ it step by step. eating up all the little extras and bits and stuff. been doing one mission an evening. modified rap lyric: “i’ma stretch the game out. scratch marcus’ name out. write brian on top. and sticky shock mercernaries nonstop for you * BLAM *.” five points to the lan hacker who guesses the original song and artist.

I love siphon filter. But Splinter Cell is tough competition, no?
Remember the tazer!!!

Hey Bri…..BUMP YOUR POINTS!
Syphon Filter was alright. You could go a little more commando in those games than you could in Splinter Cell.
One thing that transcended into all the Syphon Filter games was the horrible running animation. It looked like Gabe had a load in his pants. So bad.
The tazer was dzel. Poppin’ them in the face and setting the weapon to “extra crispy”. Those dudes would sizzle.

LOL @ Wiggy.
I wonder if the PSP Siphon Filter will be “Dookie Pants-Free”?
OH, and the taser had mad range. Hit a terrorist on the roof and watch him do the harlem shake. There was no limit to how long you could hold it, either…

y’know. splinter cell needs to be a movie. who do you’s think would be a good sam? as for snake? i want a prequel to the WHOLE metal gear thingy, NOT a game adaptation, with naked snake aka big boss played by josh holloway aka sawyer from lost! huh? huh?
January 25th, 2006 at 3:01 pm
Nobody would be a better snake than sawyer!!! Good pick!!!
As for The SC movie. Cast Kurt Russell as Fisher. I Know… Ironic since he was the original Snake in Escape from New York
KR is perfect; He’s older, but back in the day he was a beefy action hero. He’s a good actor who can do tongue in cheek humor too. (SC is full of that)
Being an older guy, He’ll probably make his huffing and grunting noises while doing action sequences so they won’t even need to put the SFX in!

I agree that Sawyer would make a good Snake. A very good pick.
As for Sam Fisher, there’s only ONE man who can play that role…..Jack Kelly. That’s right folks. Sean Kelly’s dad IS Sam Fisher. He’s got the hair, combat training and humor.
Sean could play Sam Fisher’s daughter and get killed in the first 10 minutes of the movie.

Dude, ROFLOL.
Somebody please email this to Sean so he can see what Wiggy *really* thinks of him.

Jack Kelly, totally. He could also do a remake of the Tom Cruise hitman flick, Collateral. because, y’know, like Spam says about Jack, “he’s killed and he’ll kill again.” Anyway, Kurt Russel is a pretty good pick. i’m trying to think of someone better, but nothings popping up. Maybe Matt Fox from Lost. He’s not a kid. I think someone older is in order though. Hmmmm. LOOK! i totally forgot about this–it’s already got a good director attached. Peter Berg, http://imdb.com/title/tt0439829/
it looks like Kurt Russel was considered, but Eric Bana might work. I like the stuff i read about Pierce Brosnan, but i’m sure he’s tired of the Bond type stuff. i dunno. i’m totally stumped.

Oh, nevermind! It appears Peter Berg has left the project. Sucks. I like the look of his films.
